Why we built our own nightlife intelligence platform
The problem nobody else was solving
After years running El Boiler Speakeasy in San José, I realized something: there was no way to know whether a night had been truly good or bad. I had register numbers, manual headcounts, and an instinct saying "it went well" — nothing more.
There was no platform that would tell a nightlife operator: "your best night of the month was Friday the 14th, here is why, and these are the repeating patterns." That information exists. Nobody had organized it well.
Why we decided to build it ourselves
We searched the market. What we found were generic POS systems, dashboards designed for hotels, and spreadsheets everyone assembled differently. Nothing was designed for the reality of a nightlife venue.
We decided to build Revenight: a performance intelligence platform specifically for nightlife operators. Not as a side project — as the product we ourselves needed.
How it works
Revenight takes data from each night — revenue, attendance, event type, day of week — and converts it into a 0-100 performance score. AI Night Briefings generate natural language analysis of what worked and what did not. Dashboards show trends by segment and event type.
What we learned building it
Building for a problem you live yourself is different. Every feature in Revenight went through the question: would this change something for me as an operator? If the answer was no, it did not ship. We also learned that AI is only useful when the data is clean — much of the work was designing the right data capture flows before the analysis.
